fishing at the lagoon shore with a rod and reel. Skipper works on construction of a raft.

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

Gilligan continues to reel in his line. Gilligan turns to Skipper.

GILLIGAN

Hey, Skipper!

Not getting a response, Gilligan walks over to Skipper while reeling in his line.

GILLIGAN (cont'd)

Hey, Skipper!

SKIPPER

Gilligan, how do you expect me to finish this raft if you keep interrupting?

GILLIGAN AND SKIPPER

GILLIGAN

With all that hammering you're scaring the fish.

SKIPPER

What's more important, catching fish or finishing this raft so we'll be rescued?

GILLIGAN

Well, getting rescued of course, but could you hammer nice and soft and easy?

SKIPPER

No, I can't hammer nice and soft and easy, I've got to hammer like this.

Skipper hit his thumb and contorts his face in pain.

GILLIGAN

That was pretty soft, Skipper.

Skipper cries out in pain.

GILLIGAN (cont'd)

You're scaring the fish again.

Skipper rubs his thumb.

SKIPPER

Gilligan. Oh, what's the use? Go catch some more fish. I have to go get some more vines to finish this raft anyway.

GILLIGAN

Okay I'll get something real big for dinner.

SKIPPER

You do that.

Gilligan exits. Skipper turns toward the jungle.

GILLIGAN

stands at the water's edge and reels. The line catches something and pulls on the rod.

GILLIGAN

Oh, I got one. Oh, that's a big one, too.

SEAWEED

at the end of the fishing line. Gilligan pulls the seaweed-covered object toward him.

GILLIGAN (O.S.)

Maybe it's a black marlin or a giant tuna.

GILLIGAN

pulls on the line, but it drags him toward the water's edge.

GILLIGAN

Maybe it's a Moby-Dick.

Gilligan turns, puts the rod over his shoulder, and pulls away from the lagoon.

SEAWEED-COVERED MINE

emerged from the lagoon and rests on the sandy beach. The line pulls it further ashore.

GILLIGAN

has pulled the mine so far ashore that he stands next to the raft Skipper worked on. Gilligan turns and looks at it. He sits on the sand and pulls the line. He gets a better look at the mine.

SEAWEED-COVERED MINE

rests near a large boulder.

GILLIGAN

stands, walks over to the mine, and places his rod and reel against the large boulder. Gilligan removes seaweed from the mine.

LOW ANGLE ON GILLIGAN AND MINE

GILLIGAN (cont'd)

It's a mine, a great big mine.

GILLIGAN

calls into the jungle.

GILLIGAN (cont'd)

Skipper! Hey, Skipper, where are you?

Gilligan turns back to the mine.

GILLIGAN (cont'd)

Skipper you've got to see this, it's got--And it kind of has--and and--and--oh, boy.

Gilligan runs into the jungle to find Skipper.

GILLIGAN (cont'd)

Skipper, Skipper, Skipper.

ROD AND REED AND MINE

The fishing rod slides off the large boulder and hits one of the arming pins, activating the mine.

ZOOM TO BROKEN PIN

The mine TICKS.

MINE NEXT TO BOULDER

The mine TICKS.

GILLIGAN (O.S.)

Skipper, hey Skipper, guess what I caught.

EXT. JUNGLE - DAY

Skipper cuts vines from a tree in the jungle with a large knife.

GILLIGAN (O.S.)

Skipper, hey, Skipper, hey, Skipper, hey, hey.

Gilligan enters running. He passes Skipper, stops, and turns around.

GILLIGAN

Skipper, I finally caught something really big.

SKIPPER

Well, fine Gilligan, why don't you bring it to the hut, and we'll cook it.

GILLIGAN

Yeah.

(considers)

Cook it? Skipper, we can't cook it. You see it's kind of shaped like--

(mimes spherical object)

that and it's got--

SKIPPER

Oh, Gilligan, we're in no position to be particular. Now, for goodness sakes, just cut it in small pieces. Fillet it.

GILLIGAN

Not this.

SKIPPER

Oh Gilligan, anything tastes good filleted, you've got a knife haven't you?

GILLIGAN

Yeah.

SKIPPER

Well, use it.

GILLIGAN

But, Skipper, my knife's too small besides--

SKIPPER

Gilligan, I'm busy. Now for goodness sakes, will you just cut the tail off and cut the head off and then bone it.

GILLIGAN

But Skipper, it doesn't have any bones, it doesn't even have--

SKIPPER

Gilligan, I'm busy and I'm working up an appetite here. Now, whatever you caught, I'll eat it.

GILLIGAN

Okay, Skipper. I sure hope you have a strong stomach.

FLIP TO:

EXT. CAMP - DAY

PROFESSOR

tests his bellows. When he pulls down on a pole, the counterweight rises and vice-versa.

PROFESSOR

Yes, this should do very nicely.

PULL BACK TO PROFESSOR, MARY ANN, AND GINGER

GINGER

Oh, come on, Professor, when are you going to let us in on the secret?

PROFESSOR

There's no secret, Ginger.

MARY ANN

Well Skipper's down at the lagoon making what looks like a raft and you're up here making what looks like a, well, a secret.

PROFESSOR

Well, it's really very simple, girls.

PROFESSOR

PROFESSOR (cont'd)

I'm going to melt some metal down to make an anchor for the raft that Skipper's building and we'll send it out with a message on it.

GINGER

GINGER

Oh, sort of a floating S.O.S.

PROFESSOR (O.S.)

Exactly.

GINGER

Oh.

PROFESSOR

PROFESSOR

And the reason we need the anchor is to keep the raft from drifting once it gets into the shipping lanes.

MARY ANN

MARY ANN

Oh, but, Professor, an anchor doesn't just jump off of a raft.

BACK TO SCENE

MARY ANN (cont'd)

Somebody has to push it off.

Professor turns to another device he's made.

PROFESSOR

shows off the timer. A portion of a gourd is attached to a mechanism.

PROFESSOR

This timer will be attached to the anchor. When enough sand has shifted ...

Professor removes cork from bottom of gourd and sand flows out. As the gourd rises, it triggers and releases a line.

PROFESSOR (cont'd)

... the anchor will drop into the ocean.

FOLLOW PROFESSOR TO MARY ANN AND GINGER

MARY ANN

Oh, well, just like an hourglass.

GINGER

Oh I was once voted Miss Hourglass.

GINGER

GINGER (cont'd)

They said I had my sand in all the right places. I won a loving cup.

PROFESSOR

PROFESSOR

I wish I had that loving cup right now. We could use it to help make the anchor.

MARY ANN

MARY ANN

Well, how much more metal do you need?

BACK TO SCENE

GINGER

I have a locket you could use.

PROFESSOR

Every little bit helps.

MARY ANN

Oh, we'll go look through our hut.

Mary Ann exits.

PROFESSOR

Good, good.

Professor looks after her.

GINGER

See you later.

Ginger exits. Professor catches a glimpse.

FLIP TO:

EXT. GIRLS HUT - DAY

Ginger and Mary Ann cross the clearing to their hut. Gilligan enters from behind their hut.

GILLIGAN

Hey, Ginger. Hey, Mary Ann.

They turn to see Gilligan. Gilligan stops.

GINGER

What?

GILLIGAN

Oh, guess what I caught.

GINGER

(as if talking to a child)

Was it the measles?

GILLIGAN

No, guess again.

MARY ANN

The chicken pox?

GILLIGAN

GILLIGAN

No, I'll give you a hint. It's bigger than a bread box and smaller than the Empire State Building.

GINGER AND MARY ANN

GINGER

Oh, Gilligan we can't be playing games now. I've got to go get my gold-mesh pocket book for the Professor.

MARY ANN

Oh, and I have to give him my gold slave bracelet.

The girls exit.

GILLIGAN

GILLIGAN

(puzzled)

For the Professor?

FLIP TO:

EXT. BADMINTON COURT - DAY

In a clearing in the jungle, Mr. Howell and Mrs. Howell play badminton. Mr. Howell serves to Mrs. Howell. She returns his serve. Mr. Howell hits it over the net.

MRS. HOWELL

hits the birdie back to Mr. Howell.

MRS HOWELL

Oh.

MR. HOWELL

runs and hits the birdie over the net.

MRS. HOWELL

returns the birdie.

MRS HOWELL (cont'd)

Oh I'm marvelous.

MR. HOWELL

runs and hits the birdie over the net.

MRS. HOWELL

returns the birdie.

MRS HOWELL (cont'd)

Good for me.

MR. HOWELL

runs and stretches to hit the birdie.

MRS. HOWELL

bats the birdie over the net.

MR. HOWELL

races to return the birdie, but cannot and misses it.

MRS. HOWELL

MRS HOWELL (cont'd)

Oh, I'm better than you are.

MR. HOWELL

exhales after that workout. He's winded. He walks over to a table at court side and picks up a bamboo glass and drinks from its straw.

MR HOWELL

You haven't been practicing in secret have you, my dear?

MRS HOWELL

Well, how could I, darling? You only taught me the silly game this morning.

MR HOWELL

Well I must be a very good teacher, then. Get set for a booming serve.

MRS. HOWELL

MRS HOWELL

Well, isn't it my turn to hit the poor little thing? You missed the last one.

MR. HOWELL

MR HOWELL

Yes, so it is. In that case, get set for a smashing return. Advantage yours.

Mr. Howell gently swings a backhand stroke.

MRS. HOWELL

smiles and picks up the birdie.

BACK TO SCENE

Mrs. Howell moves into serving position. Mr. Howell moves to receive.

GILLIGAN

appears from the jungle. Mr. Howell readies himself.

MR HOWELL (cont'd)

Your serve, Poncho.

GILLIGAN

Hi Mister Howell. Guess what I found.

MR. HOWELL AND GILLIGAN OVER MRS. HOWELL'S SHOULDER

Mrs. Howell serves.

MR. HOWELL AND GILLIGAN

Mr. Howell sees her serve and runs to return it.

MR. HOWELL

swings at the birdie and misses it.

GILLIGAN

opens his mouth and the birdie flies in with a POP! Gilligan stands with the birdie's feathers sticking out of his mouth.

MR. HOWELL

stomps his feet.

MR HOWELL

Foul! I was distracted by a spectator. I--

Gilligan steps forward and tries to remove the birdie from his mouth.

MR HOWELL (cont'd)

Gilligan! Gilligan, you're eating our bird.

MRS. HOWELL

enters.

MRS HOWELL

Oh, maybe the poor boy's famished.

MR HOWELL

Well, maybe that's not the problem at all. Maybe it's stuck there and he can't get it out.

Gilligan nods.

MRS HOWELL

Thurston, you're right.

MR HOWELL

It's alright. I'll just take a little tug at it. There you are.

Mr. Howell grasps the birdie's feathers.

MR HOWELL (cont'd)

Now, why did you interrupt me when I was enjoying such a staggering lead?

MRS HOWELL

Staggering lead? Why, Thurston, I was the--

MR HOWELL

Lovey, never mind. What were you about to say, Gilligan?

GILLIGAN

I found a mine.

MR HOWELL

(whispers)

A mine? Did you say "a mine"?

Mr. Howell places the birdie back in Gilligan's mouth. Gilligan nods and grunts a few words.

MRS HOWELL

Oh, Thurston, let the poor boy talk.

Mrs. Howell removes the birdie from Gilligan's mouth.

MRS HOWELL (cont'd)

(whispers)

Did you say a mine?

GILLIGAN

(whispers)

Yeah, it's right over there.

Gilligan points to the mine.

MR HOWELL

(sotto)

Don't point. Someone might see you.

MRS HOWELL

(sotto)

Besides it's not polite.

MR HOWELL

(sotto)

Pay attention, you haven't told anyone else have you?

GILLIGAN

(whispers)

I tried to but they wouldn't listen.

MR HOWELL

(sotto)

Good. good. Then it's our little secret.

GILLIGAN

(whispers)

Okay, but why are we whispering?

MR HOWELL

(sotto)

Because we don't want anyone to jump our claim.

GILLIGAN

Our claim?

MR HOWELL

(sotto)

Don't you--You can't trust anyone. We're partners, my boy. Fifty-fifty.

GILLIGAN

(sotto)

Fifty-fifty? I don't know what to do with my half.

MR HOWELL

(sotto)

Don't worry I'll take care of your half.

MRS HOWELL

Oh, Gilligan, you're going to be rich.

GILLIGAN

(sotto)

I am?

MRS HOWELL

It might be a diamond mine or an emerald mine.

GILLIGAN

I think it's an iron mine.

MR HOWELL

Or a gold and silver mine.

GILLIGAN

I think it's an iron mine.

MRS HOWELL

Or it might be a jade mine.

MR HOWELL

Or a platinum mine.

GILLIGAN

I think it's an iron mine.

MR HOWELL

Well, even an iron mine is valuable. Come, Lovey,

(takes birdie from Mrs. Howell)

we'll draw up the papers for our new partner, Gilligan.

Mr. Howell stuffs the birdie back in Gilligan's mouth. The Howells exit. Gilligan tries to remove the birdie from his mouth by giving it a little tug.

INT. GIRLS HUT - DAY

TABLE WITH A FEW METAL BITS

The metal box of Jewel Crackers sits on the table. Mary Ann places a pair of scissors on the pile of metal items on the table.

PULL BACK TO MARY ANN AND GINGER

Mary Ann opens the Jewel Crackers box. In it is a fingernail file, which Mary Ann removes. Ginger looks through the items in a makeup case. She removes an empty lipstick holder.

MARY ANN

Oh, I guess I can melt down this fingernail file.

She adds the fingernail file to the pile. Ginger holds the lipstick holder and removes the top.

GINGER

Oh, here's an empty lipstick holder.

GINGER

GINGER (cont'd)

Gee, there were a lot of good kisses in there.

MARY ANN

holds up a golden slave bracelet.

MARY ANN

Here's a gold slave bracelet an old boyfriend in high school gave me.

GINGER

GINGER

Ooh, how can you bear to part with it? Doesn't it do something to you?

MARY ANN

MARY ANN

Yeah, it turns my wrist green.

Mary Ann adds the golden slave bracelet to the pile of metal items.

MARY ANN AND GINGER

Mary Ann looks into the Jewel Crackers box.

MARY ANN (cont'd)

Well, I guess that's all for me.

Mary Ann closes the box. Ginger reaches into the makeup case.

MARY ANN (cont'd)

I better go check on Gilligan. The Professor asked me to.

Mary Ann turns to leave. Ginger removes a picture frame from the makeup case.

GINGER

Ooh, oh look, Mary Ann. A framed picture of my favorite movie star.

MARY ANN

Really? Who is it?

GINGER

Me.

Ginger kisses her fingertip and places it onto the picture. Mary Ann exits.

GINGER (cont'd)

I'm adorable.

FLIP TO:

INT. BOYS HUT - DAY

Mary Ann opens the door and enters the boys hut. Gilligan stands in front of his hammock. His hand is full of bottle tops.

MARY ANN

Hi, Gilligan. What were you able to find for the Professor?

Gilligan has a paper bag sitting on his hammock.

GILLIGAN

Oh, my collection of Yogi Bear bottle tops.

(places them in bag)

See? And my chromium yo-yo.

(puts yo-yo in bag)

And the wheels off my skateboard.

Gilligan places the wheels in the bag.

MARY ANN

Oh, and that's all?

Gilligan looks in the bag.

GILLIGAN

Yup, that's it.

Gilligan crumples the top of the bag to seal it.

MARY ANN

No more metal?

GILLIGAN OVER MARY ANN'S SHOULDER

GILLIGAN

Positive, I swear it upon my solid steel four leaf clover lucky charm.

GILLIGAN

reaches inside his shirt and removes the solid steel four-leaf clover luck charm on a necklace. He holds out the charm for Mary Ann to see.

MARY ANN

MARY ANN

All right, Gilligan. Hand it over.

GILLIGAN OVER MARY ANN'S SHOULDER

GILLIGAN

Never.

MARY ANN OVER GILLIGAN'S SHOULDER

MARY ANN

Well, Gilligan, the Professor said that any metal that wasn't absolutely necessary had to be turned in.

GILLIGAN OVER MARY ANN'S SHOULDER

GILLIGAN

Oh, this is absolutely necessary.

MARY ANN

For what?

GILLIGAN

For luck, if we didn't have it we'd be in terrible trouble. Because it's the only thing that saves us from it.

MARY ANN OVER GILLIGAN'S SHOULDER

MARY ANN

From what?

GILLIGAN OVER MARY ANN'S SHOULDER

GILLIGAN

Oh, for instance, from frostbite, for instance.

MARY ANN OVER GILLIGAN'S SHOULDER

MARY ANN

Gilligan, we're living in the tropics. There has never been a case of frostbite.

BACK TO SCENE

GILLIGAN

See how good it works?

Mary Ann raises her palm.

MARY ANN

For the last time, hand it over.

GILLIGAN

You'll have to fight me for it.

Mary Ann withdraws her palm. Gilligan jumps around and punches the air as if he were a boxer. Mary Ann sighs.

MARY ANN

Oh.

Mary Ann exits.

FLIP TO:

INT. BOYS HUT - LATER

GINGER

GINGER

Gilligan, look into my eyes.

GILLIGAN

looks into Ginger's eyes.

GINGER

GINGER (cont'd)

Now what do you see?

GILLIGAN OVER GINGER'S SHOULDER

Ginger presses closer to Gilligan. Gilligan backs up.

GILLIGAN

All I can see is a little black thing, the middle of a little green thing ...

GINGER OVER GILLIGAN'S SHOULDER

GILLIGAN (cont'd)

... in the middle of a white thing.

GINGER

Gilligan, don't you realize that the eyes are the mirror of the soul?

GILLIGAN OVER GINGER'S SHOULDER

Gilligan looks deeply into Ginger's eyes.

GILLIGAN

Hey, you're right, I can see myself.

Gilligan wriggles his fingers and looks into Ginger's eyes.

GINGER OVER GILLIGAN'S SHOULDER

GINGER

And can you see yourself giving me the metal good luck charm?

Gilligan raises his head as if to nod, but shakes his head instead.

GILLIGAN

Nope.

Gilligan ducks under the hammock.

GINGER

Gilligan, can't you see yourself making the supreme sacrifice for your friends?

Ginger wraps her hands around Gilligan's shoulders. In her right hand is a small purse.

GILLIGAN

All I can see is you trying to talk me out of my good luck charm, which you will never do.

GINGER OVER GILLIGAN'S SHOULDER

Ginger reaches behind Gilligan's neck and unclasps the charm. With her other hand Ginger opens the purse.

GINGER

Never?

GILLIGAN

Never.

Ginger places the charm into the purse.

GINGER

Never?

GILLIGAN OVER GINGER'S SHOULDER

GILLIGAN

Absolutely, positively, cross my heart, hope to turn into a donkey if you do.

GINGER OVER GILLIGAN'S SHOULDER

GINGER

Oh, well, isn't there anything I could say that could make you change your mind?

GILLIGAN OVER GINGER'S SHOULDER

Gilligan shakes his head.

GILLIGAN

Nope.

GINGER OVER GILLIGAN'S SHOULDER

GINGER

Not even if I hug you, like this?

Ginger presses her cheek to his, kisses his earlobe, and then zips the purse closed.

GILLIGAN

Even if it tickled me.

GINGER

You sure are a hard man to convince, Gilligan.

GILLIGAN OVER GINGER'S SHOULDER

Gilligan nods.

GILLIGAN

You bet I am.

GINGER OVER GILLIGAN'S SHOULDER

Ginger turns away from Gilligan.

GINGER

Oh, well.

BACK TO SCENE

Ginger walks toward the door.

GINGER (cont'd)

I guess I just don't have what it takes.

GILLIGAN

You also don't have what you took either.

Gilligan raises his fist, and then opens it. The charm, suspended by its chain, drops. Ginger unzips her purse and looks into it and sees that it is empty.

GINGER

Oh, Gilligan, you're impossible.

Ginger turns, opens the door, and exits. Gilligan gleefully holds the charm in his hands. Then he places the chain over his head.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. CAMP - DAY

On the table are assorted metal objects: a yo-yo, bottle caps, scissors, skateboard wheels, slave bracelet, pocket knife, fishing lure, a gold chain, and a ring.

PULL BACK TO

Professor, Gilligan, Mr. Howell and Skipper stand before a table in the clearing.

PROFESSOR

I'm afraid there isn't enough metal here for an anchor.

SKIPPER

I don't know where we're going to find any more, Professor.

MR HOWELL

What about to convert this money into gold and sort of melt it down?

GILLIGAN

I know where there's an iron mine.

Mr. Howell shushes Gilligan.

PROFESSOR

Gilligan, these islands are formed of coral and volcanic lava. There are no iron mines on any of them.

GILLIGAN

There's one here on this island.

Mr. Howell frowns and presses his hand against Gilligan. Gilligan shoots him a "look."

SKIPPER

All right, Gilligan, we'll take a look at your iron mine just to shut you up.

MR HOWELL

(sotto, to Gilligan)

Tattletail, it's to be our secret.

GILLIGAN

Okay, Mister Howell, okay, I'll just give my half to them.

Gilligan, Professor, and Skipper walk toward the jungle.

MR HOWELL

His half to them? Well, I had first choice on halvsies, that's not fair!

Mr. Howell stomps his feet.

FLIP TO:

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

PROFESSOR, GILLIGAN, SKIPPER, AND MR. HOWELL

SKIPPER

What is this, Gilligan, an underwater iron mine?

GILLIGAN

No, I managed to get it ashore.

PROFESSOR

Well, Gilligan, we can't waste all day, where is this mine?

GILLIGAN

Over there by that rock, see?

Gilligan points.

MINE NEXT TO BOULDER

PROFESSOR, GILLIGAN, SKIPPER, AND MR. HOWELL

MR HOWELL

Gilligan, you cheated me. That's no mine, it's an overgrown pin cushion.

Skipper points to it.

SKIPPER

It's a World War II mine.

GILLIGAN

I told you, I told you.

SKIPPER

Oh, it's been a long time since I've seen one of those babies, why, I remember--

Professor shushes them.

PROFESSOR

Shh, it's ticking.

SKIPPER

Ticking? Well, that means it's activated. Let's get out of here, it's liable to blow up.

MR HOWELL

Yeah, let's!

The men scramble to get away from the mine. Gilligan falls on the sand. Professor falls on the sand. He gets up. Professor, Skipper, and Mr. Howell race into the jungle.

SKIPPER

Over here, over here.

MR HOWELL

No, no, follow me.

PAN DOWN TO GILLIGAN

lying face down in the sand. After a moment, he gets to his knees, stands, and follows the others into the jungle.

ZOOM TO THE HOLE

left by Gilligan.

FADE OUT

END OF ACT ONE

ACT TWO

FADE IN:

EXT. JUNGLE - DAY

Mr. Howell, Skipper, and Professor race through the jungle. Professor grabs Mr. Howell and Skipper.

PROFESSOR

Wait a minute. It's no use. It won't help us to run.

SKIPPER

Well, but it won't hurt us any.

Skipper tries to break away, but Professor holds him back. Mr. Howell runs away.

MR HOWELL

A moving target is harder to hit.

Skipper and Professor stare in Mr. Howell's direction. Gilligan emerges from the jungle and runs between Skipper and Professor.

GILLIGAN

Run, run, hide, hide, run and hide, run and hide.

Skipper and Professor try to grab Gilligan, but they aren't quick enough. Gilligan disappears after Mr. Howell.

PROFESSOR

Come on, Skipper, we've got to get Gilligan and Mister Howell.

Professor and Skipper pursue them and exit.

INT./EXT. GIRLS HUT - DAY

Ginger and Mary Ann stand near the door of their hut. Ginger uses a watering can made from a gourd to water the flowers in the plant box on the outside of their window. Mary Ann holds another gourd with pieces of fruit in it.

GILLIGAN (O.S.)

Run and hide, everybody run and hide.

Gilligan races through the open door and runs between Ginger and Mary Ann.

GILLIGAN

Our mine's about to explode, hide, hide, hide.

REVERSE ANGLE OF BACK WALL

Gilligan runs away from the Gilligan-shaped hole in the back wall. Mary Ann and Ginger move to the hole and peer through it.

INT./EXT. GIRLS HUT - DAY

Skipper and Professor emerge from the jungle and run to the girls window with the flower box.

SKIPPER

Mister Howell! Gilligan!

PROFESSOR

Gilli--

Mary Ann and Ginger stand inside the hut and look out through the window.

PROFESSOR (cont'd)

Mary Ann, Ginger, have you seen Gilligan?

MARY ANN

Yes, he just went out our back door.

SKIPPER

Out your back--you don't have a back door.

Ginger looks at Mary Ann.

GINGER

We do now.

Gilligan appears from the jungle and runs to them.

GILLIGAN

Run and hide! Run and hide! Run and hide! Run and hide!

Gilligan runs between Professor and Skipper. They grab him by the arms to hold him.

PROFESSOR

Gilligan, will you stand still a minute and listen to me?

SKIPPER

He's right, Professor. We gotta get out of here.

Gilligan attempts escape but fails.

PROFESSOR

You've all got to listen to me. Now, where are the Howells?

FOLLOW MRS. HOWELL AND MR. HOWELL

as they enter the clearing.

MR HOWELL

Has it gone off yet?

SKIPPER

Not yet, Mister Howell.

MRS HOWELL

Well, maybe it'll wind down and stop ticking.

PROFESSOR

I'm afraid not, Missus Howell. Its timing mechanism has been activated. It could go off in a minute, an hour, six hours, who knows?

MRS. HOWELL AND MR. HOWELL

MRS HOWELL

Darling, you know how mechanical things confuse me. You'd better explain it.

MR HOWELL

Well, it's really quite simple. First, there's a kaboom, and then after that, harp music.

MARY ANN, GINGER, PROFESSOR, GILLIGAN, AND SKIPPER

PROFESSOR

These islands are composed of coral and lava ash. And undoubtedly, there are subterranean caves which are filled with gas.

SKIPPER

Oh, I get it. If that mine blows up with six hundred pounds of explosives, powee!

GILLIGAN

Powee?

PROFESSOR

Right, it would cause such a chain reaction that the entire island would be demolished. So you see, if it goes off, it doesn't make any difference where you are.

GILLIGAN

Powee.

MRS. HOWELL AND MR. HOWELL

PROFESSOR (O.S.)

Now look, we just can't stand around here talking.

PROFESSOR, GILLIGAN, AND SKIPPER

PROFESSOR

That mine isn't going to go away.

GILLIGAN

Yeah, I landed it real good.

MRS. HOWELL AND MR. HOWELL

MR HOWELL

We'll see you get a medal, posthumously, of course.

PROFESSOR, GILLIGAN, AND SKIPPER

PROFESSOR

Fortunately, I know a little something about mines, so I'll try to deactivate it.

SKIPPER

Let's go.

GILLIGAN

(to Skipper)

Can I go too? It's my mine, I caught it.

SKIPPER

Yeah, thanks a lot, Gilligan.

GILLIGAN

(to Mr. Howell)

You can go too, Mister Howell, we're partners.

MRS. HOWELL AND MR. HOWELL

MR HOWELL

I was your partner. That corporation has dissolved, ...

PROFESSOR, GILLIGAN, SKIPPER, MRS. HOWELL, AND MR. HOWELL

MR HOWELL (cont'd)

... and I hope that we don't follow suit.

Mr. Howell looks away and up to the heavens.

SKIPPER

You know, I might suggest, I think that women should go to the other side of the island now.

Mary Ann and Ginger exit their hut and cross the clearing to head into the jungle.

SKIPPER (cont'd)

It might not do any good, but there is a chance.

Mrs. Howell follows Mary Ann and Ginger.

MR HOWELL

Well, did you say women and children first? Well, I'm a boy at heart.

Mr. Howell turns to follow the women. Skipper grabs Mr. Howell by the shoulder.

SKIPPER

Just a minute, Mister Howell, we're going to need everybody we can get. Come on, let's go

MR HOWELL

Why am I so indispensable?

Mr. Howell looks in the direction of the women. The other men head into the jungle. Mr. Howell follows them.

FLIP TO:

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

Skipper, Professor, Gilligan, and Mr. Howell emerge from the jungle. The partially built raft rests on a bamboo sawhorses. The mine TICKS.

GILLIGAN

There it is!

Skipper puts his hand over Gilligan's mouth.

SKIPPER

(whispers)

Quiet.

MINE

rests near several large boulders.

PROFESSOR, GILLIGAN, SKIPPER, AND MR. HOWELL

Skipper removes his hand from Gilligan's mouth and leans toward the mine, listening for TICKING.

SKIPPER (cont'd)

(whispers)

Listen, it's still ticking.

MR. HOWELL

holds his wristwatch to his ear to listen to see if the TICKING is from it.

PROFESSOR (O.S.)

(sotto)

We'll have to work fast, Skipper.

PROFESSOR

PROFESSOR

(sotto)

You better let me inspect the mine. But first, as a precaution, I'll demagnetize myself.

GILLIGAN AND SKIPPER

GILLIGAN

(sotto)

No, no, don't do that.

Skipper places his hand over Gilligan's mouth.

SKIPPER

(whispers)

He just said he was going to demagnetize himself.

GILLIGAN

(whispers)

I know, it sounds awful.

SKIPPER

(whispers)

Gilligan, maybe the mine is magnetized. As a result, you know, a magnet, it attracts itself to metal and steel objects.

GILLIGAN

(sotto)

What a dumb thing for it to do.

SKIPPER

(whispers)

Gilligan, it was made that way on purpose.

PROFESSOR

PROFESSOR

(sotto)

That's right, most of them exploded on contact. However, ...

PROFESSOR, GILLIGAN, SKIPPER, AND MR. HOWELL

PROFESSOR (cont'd)

(sotto)

... some like this one are equipped with a delayed timing device to allow the ship to travel into port before exploding, ...

PROFESSOR

PROFESSOR (cont'd)

(sotto)

... thus damaging or sinking more ships.

PROFESSOR, GILLIGAN, SKIPPER, AND MR. HOWELL

PROFESSOR (cont'd)

(sotto)

Wish me luck.

SKIPPER

(sotto)

Good luck, Professor.

Professor carefully walks over to the mine.

GILLIGAN

(whispers)

Be careful.

MR HOWELL

(whispers)

Hope you're insured and the policy covers demagnetization.

SKIPPER

(whispers)

Watch yourself, now.

MR HOWELL

(whispers)

Double indemnity.

NEW ANGLE OF MINE AND MEN

Professor carefully removes seaweed from the mine. He gently drops the seaweed on the sand.

SKIPPER

How about it, Professor? Do you think you can disarm it?

PROFESSOR AND MINE

PROFESSOR

I can't find the fitting that covers the timing and magnetic device. It must be underneath the mine.

GILLIGAN, SKIPPER, AND MR. HOWELL

GILLIGAN

(sotto)

Here, I'll come help you.

SKIPPER

Gilligan, don't go near the mine with metal.

GILLIGAN

SKIPPER (O.S.)

Gilligan.

MR HOWELL (O.S.)

Come back, my boy.

PROFESSOR AND MINE

PROFESSOR

(sotto)

No, Gilligan!

GILLIGAN

PROFESSOR (O.S.)

Stay back.

Gilligan's charm pops out of his shirt toward the mine.

MR HOWELL (O.S.)

Remember, kaboom!

Gilligan presses the charm against his chest, but it pops up toward the mine again.

SKIPPER (O.S.)

Gilligan.

PROFESSOR

looks fearfully toward Gilligan.

SKIPPER AND MR. HOWELL

Mr. Howell leaves Skipper's side.

SKIPPER

Mister Howell.

GILLIGAN

plays with his charm, amazed that it pops up and won't stay flat on his chest.

MR HOWELL (O.S.)

Gilligan, ...

MR. HOWELL

reaches out with his hand.

MR HOWELL

... will you--

The mine's magnetic force pulls on Mr. Howell's identification bracelet. The mine pulls Mr. Howell toward it.

MR. HOWELL, GILLIGAN, AND SKIPPER

Mr. Howell and Gilligan are magnetically pulled toward the mine by the steel objects they wear. Skipper watches from behind the raft with his mouth agape. Mr. Howell and Gilligan try to resist the magnetic pull, but they are drawn toward the mine.

PROFESSOR

crouches behind the mine, watching Mr. Howell and Gilligan struggle to resist the magnetic pull.

MR. HOWELL AND GILLIGAN

stand 15 degrees off balance toward the mine. Mr. Howell's arms are outstretched. Gilligan's charm pulls him toward the mine.

CLOSER MR. HOWELL AND GILLIGAN

Mr. Howell looks over at Gilligan.

MR HOWELL (cont'd)

You got us into this, have you got any suggestions?

Gilligan nods.

GILLIGAN

Help!

MR. HOWELL, GILLIGAN, AND SKIPPER

As Mr. Howell and Gilligan are pulled closer to the mine, the magnetic field grows stronger and pulls them to it faster.

SKIPPER

covers his head with his arms, anticipating an explosion as Mr. Howell and Gilligan collide with the mine.

PROFESSOR

ducks behind the mine. The mine draws Gilligan and Mr. Howell to press up against it.

SKIPPER

turns to look at them. No explosion thus far.

PULL BACK FROM PROFESSOR

as he stands and looks at Gilligan and Mr. Howell. Gilligan's charm sticks to the mine. Mr. Howell's hands are also stuck to the mine. Gilligan's eyes are closed.

GILLIGAN (cont'd)

Mister Howell, I'm afraid to open my eyes. Are we still alive?

MR HOWELL

We better be. There's someone I want to cut out of my will.

Gilligan opens his eyes.

GILLIGAN

Who?

MR HOWELL

You!

SKIPPER

SKIPPER

Gilligan, get away from that mine, and that's an order.

PROFESSOR, GILLIGAN, AND MR. HOWELL

GILLIGAN

(sotto)

I can't, it won't let go of me.

PROFESSOR

The metal they're wearing has them glued to it.

SKIPPER

SKIPPER

(sotto)

Mister Howell, try forcing yourself loose, but gently, ...

MR. HOWELL OVER GILLIGAN'S SHOULDER

SKIPPER (O.S.)

(sotto)

... gently.

Mr. Howell tries to gently pull away from the mine.

MR HOWELL

(sotto)

I can't.

GILLIGAN OVER MR. HOWELL'S SHOULDER

GILLIGAN

It's starting to tick faster. Listen. Phlim-flum, Phlim-flum, Phlim-flum ...

MR. HOWELL OVER GILLIGAN'S SHOULDER

GILLIGAN (cont'd)

... pim-flum

MR HOWELL

That's my heart.

GILLIGAN OVER MR. HOWELL'S SHOULDER

PROFESSOR (O.S.)

Gilligan's good luck charm is made out of steel.

GILLIGAN, PROFESSOR, AND MR. HOWELL

PROFESSOR

Mister Howell's watch and identification bracelet are probably made out of steel, too.

MR HOWELL

(to Professor)

I beg your pardon.

PROFESSOR AND MR. HOWELL

MR HOWELL (cont'd)

They're a gift from my board of directors. There couldn't be anything less than gold or platinum.

PROFESSOR

Well, I'm sorry, Mister Howell, but that watch and identification bracelet are just gold-plated.

MR HOWELL

Remind me to drop their options and change the lock on the executive washroom.

SKIPPER

SKIPPER

Professor, we've got to work fast. That mine could go off any second now.

GILLIGAN, PROFESSOR, AND MR. HOWELL

PROFESSOR

(sotto)

The radio.

Professor stands and walks around Mr. Howell.

SKIPPER

SKIPPER

(sotto)

The radio?

GILLIGAN AND MR. HOWELL

sit, tethered to the mine.

PROFESSOR AND SKIPPER

Professor walks to Skipper at the raft.

PROFESSOR

That's how we'll free them, by short wave.

SKIPPER

Short wave? We'll take a tidal wave.

GILLIGAN AND MR. HOWELL

Gilligan looks at Mr. Howell. Mr. Howell looks fearful.

PROFESSOR (O.S.)

We've got to work fast, Skipper. We'll neutralize the magnetic field ...

PROFESSOR AND SKIPPER

PROFESSOR

... by crossing the mine's electromagnetic waves with ultra-high frequency waves, right?

SKIPPER

Right, Professor.

Skipper gives an aside glance.

PROFESSOR

I'll get the radio.

Professor turns toward camp.

GILLIGAN (O.S.)

Hurry back, Professor.

Professor smiles and nods.

GILLIGAN AND MR. HOWELL

MR HOWELL

Yeah, if we're going to have a blast, I'd like the kind where you live a little.

FLIP TO:

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

PULL BACK FROM PROFESSOR'S HANDS

as he adjusts the radio's dials. Skipper stands next to him. Rock MUSIC plays on the radio.

GILLIGAN AND MR. HOWELL

GILLIGAN

Hey, that's rock and roll, Professor.

(to Mr. Howell)

Maybe it'll shake us loose, huh?

Gilligan taps the mine in rhythm with the rock MUSIC.

MR HOWELL

If you don't mind, Gilligan, I'd rather not be the high note on the next chorus.

PROFESSOR AND SKIPPER

PROFESSOR

Gilligan, Mister Howell, try to pull free.

GILLIGAN AND MR. HOWELL

pull against the magnetic force, but can't budge.

PROFESSOR (O.S.)

We'll just have to ...

PROFESSOR AND SKIPPER

Professor adjusts the radio dial. The radio changes to a newscast.

PROFESSOR

... keep at it till we get the right frequency.

SKIPPER

You'd better hurry it up, Professor.

PROFESSOR

Gilligan, now! Now, Mister Howell!

GILLIGAN AND MR. HOWELL

try to pull away.

MR HOWELL

My costume jewelry!

GILLIGAN

Professor!

PROFESSOR AND SKIPPER

Professor adjusts the radio dial again. Skipper grabs the radio and shakes it. The radio changes to acoustic guitar music.

SKIPPER

Don't worry, little buddy, we'll get you loose.

GILLIGAN AND MR. HOWELL

pull and finally free themselves!

PROFESSOR AND SKIPPER

Professor is startled that they were able to pull away.

GILLIGAN AND MR. HOWELL

tumble into a heap on the sand near the raft.

PROFESSOR AND SKIPPER

look down at them.

GILLIGAN AND MR. HOWELL

Gilligan sits up and turns to Mr. Howell.

GILLIGAN

We made it, Mister Howell. Are you okay?

Mr. Howell checks his gold-plated wrist watch.

MR HOWELL

Well, either I'm dead or my watch has stopped.

Mr. Howell taps his watch. He places the watch to his ear.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - LATER

Gilligan stands next to the raft. On the raft sit the radio, a leather belt, a pocket knife, and some wadded up cash. Gilligan removes his charm and almost adds it to the other items on the raft, but changes his mind and keeps it in his hand.

SKIPPER (O.S.)

Gilligan, ...

PROFESSOR, SKIPPER, AND MR. HOWELL

Skipper holds an adjustable brass wrench.

SKIPPER

... will you come on?

GILLIGAN

drops the charm on the raft with the other items. Gilligan joins the others.

PROFESSOR, SKIPPER, AND MR. HOWELL, AND GILLIGAN

SKIPPER (cont'd)

Now, listen, Gilligan, you're the only one that's skinny enough that can crawl into this mine and loosen that fitting with this brass wrench. It's non-magnetic.

GILLIGAN

But, Skipper--

PROFESSOR

Gilligan, Gilligan, you must be careful because this mine is sensitive. It's very, very sensitive.

GILLIGAN

Say, isn't it against the law to tinker with Navy property?

MR HOWELL

If they complain, I'll buy them a new battleship.

SKIPPER

Gilligan, will you stop that? Now, work fast.

Skipper hands the brass wrench to Gilligan. Professor, Skipper, and Mr. Howell each grip a fuse on the mine. They tip the mine toward themselves.

SKIPPER (cont'd)

We've got to work on this and loosen that fitting before it stops ticking.

GILLIGAN

Don't worry, Skipper. If it stops ticking, we can rewind it.

Gilligan laughs. Skipper points to the bottom of the mine.

SKIPPER

Get under there, Gilligan!

GILLIGAN

Now?

SKIPPER

Now!

Gilligan kneels and crouches down.

ZOOM TO PROFESSOR, SKIPPER, AND MR. HOWELL

gripping the mine.

GILLIGAN AND THE MINE

Gilligan removes sand from the side of the mine.

GILLIGAN

Hey, I found the fitting.

Gilligan hits the fitting with the wrench.

PROFESSOR, SKIPPER, AND MR. HOWELL

SKIPPER

Gilligan!

PROFESSOR

Don't hammer, turn it!

MR HOWELL

Use your head. Use your head.

GILLIGAN AND THE MINE

GILLIGAN

Use my head?

Gilligan pulls out more sand. He crawls forward so his head is under the mine.

PROFESSOR, SKIPPER, AND MR. HOWELL

lose their grips on the mine. It slowly rotates onto Gilligan.

PROFESSOR

It's rolling back.

SKIPPER

Hang on, men! Hang on!

Skipper crawls behind Professor while trying to maintain his grip on the mine.

SKIPPER (cont'd)

Professor, let me get under there!

MR HOWELL

You're stronger than the Professor.

Professor moves into Skipper's former position.

MR HOWELL (cont'd)

You're dead--

Mr. Howell releases his grip and the mine rolls back completely.

MR HOWELL (cont'd)

Heavens! A mine disaster. The boy is trapped alive!

SKIPPER

SKIPPER

My poor little buddy!

Gilligan pops up next to Skipper.

GILLIGAN

Dumb old mine. I'm going to give him a good swift kick!

SKIPPER

No!

Gilligan kicks Skipper's shin with a THUD. Skipper turns away from Gilligan.

SKIPPER (cont'd)

My shin!

DISSOLVE TO:

INT./EXT. BOYS HUT - DAY

PROFESSOR

uses a brush to paint a solution from a bucket onto a bolt, nut and washer in his hand. Professor tries to turn the nut without success.

PULL BACK TO GILLIGAN AND SKIPPER

sit at a medium-sized table watching Professor. Various bowls and gourds sit on the table.

SKIPPER

Well, Professor?

Professor struggles to turn the nut.

PROFESSOR

It's no use. There's no way I can make a lubricant to dissolve all that rust. There's just no way to deactivate that mine.

GILLIGAN

I have a suggestion.

(stands)

Why don't we make a giant slingshot, then we can hurl the mine a hundred miles away?

SKIPPER

Gilligan, you've made that suggestion for the last time. Now, get out of here!

Skipper points to the door.

GILLIGAN

But I have rubber bands, Skipper. You see--

SKIPPER

Out!

GILLIGAN

All you gotta do is--

SKIPPER

Out! Gilligan, out!

Gilligan heads for the door.

PROFESSOR

He's just trying to help, Skipper.

Gilligan exits through the door, turns, and looks in through the window.

SKIPPER

Oh, I know, Professor, but we haven't got time for such nonsense. That mine may blow up any minute.

PROFESSOR

Well, there's only one thing left to do.

GILLIGAN AT WINDOW

PROFESSOR (O.S.)

And that's to use the raft to tow the mine out to sea. Far enough out where an explosion won't cause any damage.

BACK TO SCENE

SKIPPER

But, Professor, it's so tricky.

(picks up a gourd from the table)

I mean, it's apt to blow up any minute.

GILLIGAN

Kaplow!

Startled, Skipper fumbles with the gourd. Skipper slams the gourd on the table, breaking it into pieces. Skipper points away.

SKIPPER

Gilligan, would you get out of here?

SKIPPER OVER PROFESSOR'S SHOULDER

PROFESSOR

Well, it's dangerous, but it has to be done, and it has to be done now. All right. Let's eliminate Mister Howell. He's a married man.

SKIPPER

Well, and Gilligan, I don't want my little buddy ...

EXT. BOYS HUT - DAY

GILLIGAN

sits outside the hut with his back against the wall. He eavesdrops on their conversation.

SKIPPER (O.S.)

... doing anything so dangerous.

Gilligan smiles.

PROFESSOR (O.S.)

It's up to me.

The smile drains from Gilligan's face.

SKIPPER (O.S.)

No, Professor, you're too smart.

INT./EXT. BOYS HUT - CONTINUOUS

Professor stands at the table while Skipper sits.

SKIPPER

They need your brain.

PROFESSOR

No, no, no, Skipper. You're the leader. I'm expendable.

Skipper stands.

SKIPPER

There's only one way to do this. Quick and fairly, we'll cut the cards.

Skipper turns and gets playing cards.

PROFESSOR

All right.

INT./EXT. BOYS HUT - CONTINUOUS

GILLIGAN

sits outside the hut with his back against the wall. He thinks for a moment and then stands up.

INT. BOYS HUT - CONTINUOUS

Skipper retrieves a playing CARD DECK from a small cabinet. He brings the cards to the table where Professor stands.

PROFESSOR

High card does the job.

Skipper shuffles the card deck.

SKIPPER

Right.

Mr. Howell enters.

MR HOWELL

It's a strange time to be playing gin rummy.

Skipper places the shuffled card deck on the table.

SKIPPER

We're not playing gin rummy, Howell.

MR HOWELL

Well, whatever it is, count me in.

Mr. Howell takes a card from the top of the deck.

PROFESSOR

We're cutting the cards to see who tows the mine out into the ocean.

MR HOWELL

Like I said, count me out.

Mr. Howell places the card back onto the deck.

SKIPPER

Go ahead, Professor.

Professor cuts and takes a slice of cards. He looks at his card. Skipper takes a slice of cards. Mr. Howell peeks at Professor's card.

PROFESSOR

Two of clubs.

Mr. Howell peeks at Skipper's card.

SKIPPER

Eight of hearts.

(shows card)

Great. I won.

Skipper places his slice back onto the deck. So does Professor.

MR HOWELL

Well, that all depends on the way you look at it.

PROFESSOR

PROFESSOR

Now, remember, Skipper, first you've got to remove the metal rudder so it won't attract the mine.

MR. HOWELL AND SKIPPER

MR HOWELL

Well, I believe Gilligan is already on his way to do that.

Skipper turns to Mr. Howell.

SKIPPER

Gilligan?

MR HOWELL

Yes, I saw him run to the lagoon.

PROFESSOR

PROFESSOR

Skipper, he must have overheard us.

BACK TO SCENE

MR HOWELL

He was all by himself muttering something about it being his fault.

SKIPPER

Oh, Professor, we've got to stop my little buddy.

PROFESSOR

Absolutely.

Professor and Skipper exit the hut.

SKIPPER

Gilligan! Gilligan!

Mr. Howell picks the top card from the deck and looks at it. He's startled at the card he drew.

MR HOWELL

Ace of Spades. The death card.

FLIP TO:

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

Skipper and Professor emerge from the jungle. The bamboo sawhorses stand, but without a raft on them.

SKIPPER

Gilligan! The raft! Professor, the raft is gone.

PROFESSOR

There he is.

(points toward the lagoon)

He's towing the mine.

They race to the shoreline.

SKIPPER

Gilligan! Gilligan!

EXT. LAGOON - DAY

Gilligan kneels on the raft and paddles it away from shore. The mine is towed behind the raft. Gilligan looks over his shoulder at Professor and Skipper.

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

SKIPPER

Come back! Come back, Gilligan!

EXT. LAGOON - DAY

Gilligan leans against the raft's mast and looks toward Skipper and Professor.

GILLIGAN

I did it! I saved us, Skipper! No more mine!

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

Professor cups his hand to direct his voice.

PROFESSOR

There's a metal rudder on the raft! It'll attract the mine like a magnet!

EXT. LAGOON - DAY

GILLIGAN

frowns and looks back and sees the mine.

MINE

follows closely behind Gilligan's raft.

GILLIGAN

GILLIGAN

Skipper!

Gilligan paddles faster!

GILLIGAN

paddles the raft in FAST MOTION. The mine follows.

MEDIUM SHOT GILLIGAN

paddles the raft, alternating sides of the raft. The mine is in close pursuit.

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

PROFESSOR AND SKIPPER

watch Gilligan flee the mine.

SKIPPER

Holy smokes! He must be doing forty knots.

EXT. LAGOON - DAY

GILLIGAN ON THE RAFT

paddles in FAST MOTION. The mine is tethered to the raft by a line!

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

PROFESSOR

Gilligan, cut the line.

EXT. LAGOON - DAY

GILLIGAN

paddles in FAST MOTION and panics.

MINE

speeds through the water behind the raft.

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

PROFESSOR

Cut the line!

SKIPPER

Cut the ...

EXT. LAGOON - DAY

GILLIGAN

paddles in FAST MOTION. The mine follows closely behind him.

SKIPPER (O.S.)

... line, Gilligan!

REVERSE ANGLE

Gilligan paddles in FAST MOTION with the mine behind him.

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

PROFESSOR AND SKIPPER

watch as Gilligan turns the raft toward them.

EXT. LAGOON - DAY

PROFESSOR AND SKIPPER OVER GILLIGAN'S SHOULDER

Gilligan paddles his raft in FAST MOTION directly toward the shore on which Professor and Skipper stand.

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

Professor and Skipper watch Gilligan race by in the water.

EXT. LAGOON - DAY

Gilligan paddles the raft in FAST MOTION toward the lagoon inlet. He turns and the mine travels out the lagoon inlet.

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

PROFESSOR AND SKIPPER

look one way, and then the other, watching Gilligan paddle around the lagoon.

EXT. LAGOON - DAY

GILLIGAN

paddles the raft in FAST MOTION, no longer tethered to the mine. He passes the waterfall and heads for the beach.

PROFESSOR AND SKIPPER OVER GILLIGAN'S SHOULDER

Gilligan paddles in fast motion, heading for the beach next to Professor and Skipper.

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

PROFESSOR AND SKIPPER

whip their heads around as they watch Gilligan paddle the raft past the beach into the jungle.

GILLIGAN PADDLES THE RAFT

in FAST MOTION into the jungle.

FADE OUT

END OF ACT TWO

TAG

FADE IN:

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

SKIPPER, GILLIGAN, MR. HOWELL, MRS. HOWELL, PROFESSOR, GINGER, AND MARY ANN

stand at the beach. Skipper's wraps his arm around Gilligan's shoulder. Gilligan holds his hat in hand. A FISHING ROD AND REEL leans against a large boulder.

SKIPPER

And my little buddy risked his own life to save us. How about a rousing cheer for our Gilligan?

CASTAWAYS

Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!

Gilligan puts on his hat. Mr. Howell moves closer to Gilligan.

PAN TO SKIPPER, GILLIGAN, AND MR. HOWELL

MR HOWELL

My boy, I'm going to give you a really big tip.

GILLIGAN

Oh, thanks, Mister Howell.

Gilligan holds out his palm.

MR HOWELL

Consolidated National ACME. Buy.

Gilligan is startled at the tip.

SKIPPER

And now, Gilligan, with the mine safely towed out to sea, why don't you catch something really big for dinner?

Skipper hands Gilligan the FISHING ROD AND REEL. Gilligan takes the rod and reel from Skipper.

GILLIGAN

You bet, Skipper. I'll go get the big--Look.

Gilligan looks out to the lagoon.

SKIPPER

The mine!

EXT. LAGOON - DAY

MINE

sits motionless in the lagoon.

ZOOM ON MINE

The mine explodes, spraying water everywhere.

EXT. LAGOON BEACH - DAY

Water rains down on the Skipper, Professor, Mr. Howell, Mrs. Howell, Ginger, and Mary Ann. Many fish land on the sand next to them, and on them. They cover their heads with their hands. They scramble around to avoid being the next target.

GILLIGAN

enters carrying a large BLUE MARLIN.

GILLIGAN

Hey, Skipper, I finally caught something big for dinner.

FADE OUT.

THE END
