Ahoy There Maties! Welcome to the March edition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club. This is brought to you by all seven of us still stranded here on this dreary little isle. If I have another coconut milk drink I'll die! All I want is just a drink of Yoo-Hoo!!! A lot has been happening so I'll jump right into it. BOliver, one of our fans, told us that Bob Denver (Gilligan) will be a guest voice on the next Simpsons. The episode will air this Sunday, March 29th. If anybody else see's any Gilligan-related info out there, please let us know. There is so much out there we can't possibly keep track of it all. Thankx again BOliver for the help! "Old Navy Jeans" has a commercial out that has a few imitations from the show. I've only seen it once, and wish I had more pictures for you. Keep an eye out for this one. A spokesman for Dart Flip Cards informs us that the cards will be out sometime in April. The delay is attributed to the difficulty of obtaining legal clearances on the photos being used. Gilligan's Island Movie Update! There is a director now for the movie. Only problem is that he's going to do another movie first. Sherwood Schwartz has informed us that the movie will definitely happen, but production won't begin for ATLEAST another 6 months. In June there will be another Gilligan's Island Musical in Wisconsin. Lloyd Schwartz also tells us that he is talking to a hotel in Hawaii about a long-running production in Maui. If you ever get a chance to see one of these musicals, definatley go see it! I saw one in San Diego and it was Fantastic!!! More info here: http://www.lookup.com/homepages/58181/play.html There is a new recording out by a rock group called "Squirtgun." They have recorded an interesting song called "Mary Ann." Yes, it's about our dear, sweet Mary Ann and is on sale now at local music stores. If you can't find it, then I have found a place on-line that will take your order for the 45 record. http://205.217.221.14/programs/cdubin.exe/similar/EAN=SQUIRTGUN/cart=9709 Have you seen the flight simulator addition to the web page? A few years ago, Microprose had slipped the coordinates into one of their scenery files and as you fly over the area, you actually come to this island that has seven stranded people there! And they communicate with you too! http://www.lookup.com/homepages/58181/flt.html OK, and now for all you collectors out there, do I have something for you! I have searched the Internet in hopes of finding the replica of the radio used on Gilligan's Island and I've spotted one that's as close as it gets! Keep in mind that the handle and antenna were prop add-ons, but you can judge this one for yourself. According to resources, the radio used on the show had no model number. There is only one fo these left, so be prepared for competition if you want to buy it. Once on the page below, click the Aiwa AR-851 link. Good Luck! http://www.ndirect.co.uk/~e.tedeschi/sale/tr.table.radios.htm And here's yet another rare collectable! A 1965 TV Guide featuring Gilligan's Island! Looks like there's only one as well. You can purchase and gather info here: http://www.erols.com/jbevans/tvguide.html On both of those items mentioned above, please let them know that you found their site through the Gilligan's Island Fan Club. More midi's have been added to the page, and when you hear some of these, you can't help but crack a smile! http://www.lookup.com/homepages/58181/midi.html We've added pictures to our Trade/Sell section so you can actually see what you're paying for. http://www.lookup.com/homepages/58181/classified.html Some of you have signed up twice for some reason. Please let me know if you receive this newsletter twice. The Fan Club has grown to over 1,200 worldwide! Out of every 1,200, I get about 25 back stating that the return address is no longer available. Please notify us if you are discontinuing or changing your service provider so we can maintain accurate records. A lot of this information was compiled by our own Island Corespondent Pete Salisbury, and has started his own Newsletter called "The Skipper's Log." It comes out every month and is free! Just send a Self addresses Stamped envelope to: The Skipper's Log 1430 14th Street Hut G Imperial Beach, CA 91932-3815 WOW! Finally I'm through!
