Ahoy Maties! QUOTE OF THE MONTH: Gilligan: Don't worry Skipper. If there's a ship out there, I'll find it. Skipper: Gilligan, if there's a ship out there it's in a lot of trouble. The ocean's this way! Welcome to the February edition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club. 3,654 members and growing! Well? Did you see it? You know exactly what I'm talking about if you watched the Superbowl. Gilligan's Island was a popular Superbowl commercial hit! Well, not exactly the funniest commercial I have ever seen, but at least it was Gilligan's Island! It went like this: "Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip, That started from this tropic port, aboard this tiny ship. The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle, But Gilligan had an M-Life, and the Coast Guard on speed-dial." After getting stranded, Gilligan whips out is cell phone and the coast guard rescues them. Then they continue to sing about the product and then show a shot of Skipper tied to the bottom of the helicopter and he yells "Gilligan!" Thanks to everybody that told me about the commercial. We finally got a new Thurston! You can e-mail him at: thurshowell@aol.com. He plays the part pretty darn well! We now need a new Ginger! Anyone game? Seems that the old Ginger got real busy and didn't have the time anymore. Many thanks for all of her hard work. Tell us why you would like to be our fan club Ginger. Please tell me your qualifications and expertise. We've got 2 new comics on the site: Hip Shop and Red And Rover: http://www.gilligansisle.com/comics.html Come here to get your Gilligan Ring Tones! http://www.2thumbswap.com/members/tones/tones_main.html Richard tells us that Columbiahouse is starting to listen to us! Here's what they told him: "Thank you for your e-mail message. Thank you for the suggestion, it will be considered. If we may be of further service, please let us know. Sincerely, Karen Tunon Customer Service" Still trying to get Columbiahouse to release a DVD of the Gilligan's Island series but we can't do it without your help. Please e-mail Columbiahouse at video@columbiahouse.com and bug the heck out of them. Please have your friends and relatives do the same. It doesn't have to be a long message, just something to tell them that they should release the series on DVD. The more people that bug them, the more of a chance we can get it. We are bugging them so much now that they have a generic message for us saying... "Although, Gilligan's Island DVD is not yet available for shipment, this title will be offered in the near future. Please watch future magazines for this selection. Sincerely, Orlando Pacheco Customer Service Columbiahouse video@columbiahouse.com FAN MAIL I am also a big fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and in one of the episodes, I believe it was 'Time Chasers' (not positive) at the beginning the two robots were pretending to be characters from Lost In Space after getting Mike to say 'Lost In Space'. At the end of the whole episode, Crow appears wearing a Gilligan's shirt and hat and goes "if we were stuck on an island, and my name was Gilligan and it was MY island, what would it be called?" and Mike goes: 'Oh no. No, Crow. NO!" And storms off. Then Tom Servo appears wearing the Skipper shirt and hat and goes: "Hey little buddy!" but Crow says since Mike didn't say "Gilligan's Island" they can't do it now so they get all upset. It's quite funny. Erin Strata I found a Final Fantasy 7 fanfic that -sort of- that revolves around the theme here: http://www.angelfire.com/anime2/FFFansite/Rambles/SV.html I was at a local Meijers and spotted Rescue From Gilligans Island in a 4 pack DVD set with 3 other made-for-tv movies. The DVD was called Adventure Tales (or something like that) and was priced at $4.98. They also had these at Best Buy but was priced higher at $9.99. Jim S from Joliet Hey, we got a Harry Potter one!! Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, A tale of a sorting hat, That sorted students at Hogwarts, Into their houses, Into their houses. Quidditch started getting rough, The Golden Snitch was lost, If not for the courage of Harry Potter, The game would be lost, The game would be lost. The Sorcerers Stone was under this, Big three-headed dog, Standing on a trap door, The stone was saved with the help of Harry, Ronald too, Hermione, Proffesor Snape, Hagrid and the rest are here at Hogwarts school! Janelle Killam That's all for now. I mentioned to Mr. Howell that we should throw him a party, and this is what he said. "Party? Did you say party? How vulgar! A howell never throws a mere party.....Lovey always has the best of taste and we usually refer to our little social get togethers as, a fete'. Myself...I say carousal, soiree, blowout, a coutillion de tres fantasique or maybe even a wing-ding but never party..... Uuuh so common!" "(unless there's maybe a cute girl in a bathing suit popping out of a cake...then maybe ....eeeah-eeeah!!)(don't tell Lovey)" Oh Mr. Howell! (I hope Mrs. Howell isn't reading this) "Smooth Sailing" Willy Gilligan President/Webmaster Official Gilligan's Island Fan Club http://www.gilligansisle.com
