Ahoy Maties! QUOTE OF THE MONTH: Skipper: "Wait a minute Gilligan. Never send ships out without air cover. First you send out an aircraft carrier and then you get out the...how do I get myself caught up in these things?" Welcome to the October 2002 edition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club. 3,340 members worldwide and still growing! Almost 2,000 good folks like you visit our site each day. Please continue to tell your friends and family about the show and web site. Spam, spam and more spam! Viruses, junk mail and awful jokes! These are just some of the e-mail we all receive on a daily basis. 95% of my mail is not even worth opening. If I didn't reply to you it's because the subject of your e-mail was "Hi, remember me?" Or it said "Hey, where have you been lately?" I guess this is just something we will have to put up with as a price for having fun on the Internet. Whether it's "University Diploma's" or "Bum Fight" video advertising, I can't seem to weed out the spam from the real Mccoy. If you REALLY want to get ahold of me, please put something catchy in the subject field. Wouldn't it be nice to have the entire 3 seasons of Gilligan's Island on DVD? The only way we are going to get it is by bugging the heck out of Columbia House Video! Here is a couple of e-mail addresses we can try. I'll try to make this real easy for everybody. Just click here: You should see this highlighted. If not, please use this: customer_service@columbiahouse.com There are over 3,300 of us out here, so please help us out and write a small sentence to these people. By sticking to it, hopefully we will get the whole series on DVD! Dawn Wells has been ranked number 50 in the 50 sexiest people in America according to TV GUIDE. Ginger was a close 51 but it was Dawn who won the slot. She should have been much higher than that, but at least she made it in the magazine. They used the well-known bikini black and white picture. In the September newsletter we forgot to mention that Mr. Hearns also appeared on camera in the episode "Splashdown." Here is a list of everybody that appeared on Gilligan's Island: http://www.gilligansisle.com/episode.html#1 "Surviving Gilligan's Island" is now on VHS and DVD! Get yours here at: http://www.gilligansisle.com/purchase.html If you own a Palm Pilot, then this might interest you. Joshua Aversa has made a Gilligan's Island game for the unit. Kids meals are served in sand buckets for them to keep! Relax around palm trees, play volleyball, drink at the Tiki Bar, enjoy the water shuttle service, shopping and more! If you visit, please give me a report. http://www.gilliganspier.com/Index.htm Looking for somebody that has Bailey's Of Balboa. All we really need is the theme song. Can you help? ________________________________________________________________________________________________ FROM OUR MEMBERS In the movie, "Sister Act II," Whoopi Goldberg is trying to get the students interested in singing. In one of the scenes, she has each of the kids sing Mary Had A Little Lamb to test out their voices. One of the girls doesn't know Mary Had A Little Lamb so, instead, starts singing the theme song to Love Boat. One of the other nuns says, "Doesn't anyone know the theme song for Gilligan's Island?" (or something like that.....if you want the exact quote, let me know and I'll watch the tape again). Helynn Chick Hearns was also on The Harlem Globetrotters on GI movie!! An item of interest may be that every once in a while on e-bay, they auction off a lunch date with Dawn Wells!! That's pretty cool but usually REALLY expensive!! Curt I heard Mary Ann was teaming up with Batman for a benefit to raise money for the acting camp. Editor - [Cool, but haven't heard of this] Well, I met the Professor and he is a great guy. Had plenty of time for the kids, and was very congenial. I really liked him. You would not believe how nice he was to my kids (9 and 6), and made them feel so welcome. They have his pictures in their room, and really felt quite honored. I have to say I really enjoyed it also -- he is a true gentleman, and deserves only the best in life. His brother was equally as nice. I am so glad they met all of us. Rick Sachs San Diego, California While on vacation this August I was in Sarasota, Fla., and passed right by a bar and grill called "Gilligans." I didn't have a camera with me, but it's located westbound from exit 39 off Interstate 75. It's probably listed in the Sarasota Yellow Pages. Ivan Haffenden Editor - [anybody know where this is?] As an avid Gilligan fan, I am waiting for the day I can have all the GI episodes, unedited and commercial free. I know Columbia House has the video collection, but to collect them all is time consuming and EXPENSIVE. Is there any possibility that GI might come in "seasons" on DVD, perhaps like they are doing with The Simpsons and Star Trek TNG? Do you have any info on this? Currently in Canada, the only way I see Gilligan is by recording it at 5:30 am on superstation. It is heavily edited, missing about 3-4 minutes of show every time, and filled with informercials....bleccchhh :o( Editor - [Brian. All of us are working on it] Hi Willy, Just wanted to tell you during the US OPEN (tennis) a couple of days ago, they showed 2 guys in the stands and the commentator said "that looks like Gilligan and the Skipper" Keep up the great work. I look forward to every newsletter. Thanks Andrew. Well I guess it's time to go. We are starting to decorate the island for a nice Halloween. We all have the same costumes from last year... and the year before...and the year before...and the year.......before. But what the heck, we still have a blast! See you in November!
