Ahoy There Maties! QUOTE OF THE MONTH BONGO: I thought you said we were going to get away from our fans! BANGO: Yeah you said this island was deserted, and we'd be all alone! BINGO: Now how did I know it was inhabited? That helicopter pilot told me this place was out of sight man! BANGO: We MUST be way out! Get a load of these characters! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to yet another edition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club. Sorry, I don't have any more info on this. There is a new Seafood Restaurant in Maryland called "Gilligan's Pier Seafood and Steakhouse." Here's the info: 11535 Popes Creek Road, Newburg, MD 20664 P.O. Box 2841, LaPlata, MD 20646 (301) 259-4514 If you check it out, please give us a review. There is a site called melonpool.com and they have a Gilligan's Island comic up and running. Apparently they are going to do a series of comics from the show. Here's the latest one: http://www.melonpool.com/d/20020623.html This site also made a parody of the theme song: http://www.pretzyl.com/2002/melonpool/melonpoolsrock1.mp3 Get ready to set your VCR's. The Family Feud is coming and the Gilligan's Island cast will be competing. Only one problem...I don't know when. I can't seem to locate the time and date but I've been well-informed by fan club member Joe that it will be coming on in August on the Game Show Network. He tells us that on Friday nights from 8-10 p.m (EST) GSN will be airing "Family Feud Fridays". Feud will include contests between the original casts of "Batman," "Roseanne," "Baywatch," "Gilligan's Island" and "Three's Company." Keep your eyes and ears open for this. If you find out, please let me know and I'll send another quick newsletter telling you when. I myself don't even have the Gilligan's Island Family Feud! There's a Gilligan's Island beach party in New Jersey, I think. They didn't give me much notice and this newsletter came out after the party. Maybe they'll have pictures: http://www.joanjett.com/characters/ Melvin sends us a message: You're probably well informed about this, but I had never seen this before. I was watching Batman on TV Land the other night and I was watching an episode titled "The Ogg and I" featuring Vincent price as Egg head. There was a scene where Chief O'Hara went into a restaurant. The name of the restaurant was "Gilligan's" which was the name of the owner. "Gilligan came out to take O'Hara's order and it was none other than Alan Hale, Jr.--the Skipper himself. I'm both a big fan of Batman and Gilligan's Island, but I had never scene this episode, or at least the scene with Alan Hale, Jr. Jeff Swindling writes: On a recent cross-country airplane flight, the in-flight entertainment included an episode of Disney's original series "Honey I Shrunk the Kids." The episode was about how the family accidentally brought barbarians from the 10th century into the present day. While Wayne Szalinski (the dad) was in 930 AD, the barbarians thought he was a Norse God. To prove it, he entertained them with "stories," which were actually old episodes of "Gilligan's Island." He started off by singing them the song, then told the plot details of the show! It was pretty amusing! Short and sweet newsletter. Off to surgery. My mouth keeps picking up AM radio stations for some reason! Willy Gilligan President/Webmaster Official Gilligan's Island Fan Club http://www.gilligansisle.com
