Ahoy Maties! (2,944 world-wide members) Welcome to the May edition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club. Being stranded on this island sure does have it's disadvantages. For instance, we are gonna miss the 'Spiderman' movie AND the 'Star Wars' movie coming to theaters near you this month. On the other hand, we sleep as late as we want and don't have to worry about traffic. BUT, if any of you happen to toss a color TV overboard near Hawaii, try to drift it south-east, OK? First of all I credited Mary Ann for sending the Frank and Ernest comic. It was actually Ginger who did that. If I keep this up, she says that she'll never let me star in one of her movies when we get back home. You can check out our comic section at: http://www.gilligansisle.com/comics.html Fan club member Courtney Boches has made a whopping 28 page original Gilligan's Island story! She did a great job! This is a great time killer. Print it out and bring it with you on a plane trip.... very entertaining! You can see her wonderful creation at: http://www.gilligansisle.com/allyson.html Bob Denver's last appearance was in Sarasota. You can see all of the photo's here: http://www.SimplySarasota.com/Stranded.html (Bob doesn't come in until page 5) If you watch the first couple of episodes, you'll notice that Mr. Howell has a very distinct Harvard accent, but soon loses it after only a few episodes. If you or somebody you know is going to travel to Hawaii, then they must get acquainted with the Gilligan's Island filming locations. For starters, you can actually stay where the very first episode was filmed......right on the beach of Kauai! This amazing little cottage is called the "Honeymoon Studio." It has a private entry and lanai, full kitchen and bath, king bed, tv/vcr, W/D and outrageous views. Current price is as follows: "Honeymoon Studio" - sleeps 2 $150 per night or $950 per week. http://www.rfreedom.com/paradise/paradise.htm The movie tour comes by there everyday. Also check out this section. It will help you out a lot: http://www.gilligansisle.com/tour.html Does any one out there have any knowledge, merchandise or photo's of Alan Hale's Lobster Barrel Restaurant? I'm trying to add more to the barrel page. If you do, please contact me. http://www.gilligansisle.com/lobster.html For all of you cell phone owners, they have ring tones out for Gilligan's Island! Just go to your favorite search engine and type Gilligan ring tone. You'll see a bunch of them. Not sure how to set them up tho'. There is a Miniature Golf/Restaurant in Myrtle Beach. Does anybody know about this one? Michael writes: "I know that in the newsletter you have the new discoveries of Gilligan restaurants, but I thought you might want to put in the newsletter, there is a Gilligans gift shop. It is quite a ways away, it is on Blue Lagoon Island in the Bahamas but it is pretty neat and certainly worth the mention." Dustin writes: I read early about a mention of Gilligan in Weird Al song. There is another one! It is in "Stop Draggin' My Car Around." He says "Now I'm home watchin' Gilligan's Isle" OK, now it's my turn to ask for some help. Any helpers out there? We are in dire need of our very own daily trivia section. We don't want to use big names like Yahoo, etc... We would like you to make an original one, and keep it on your server. We had one about 5 years ago, remember? It was great! Over 250 people would log in every day, including Bob Denver himself. He didn't do to bad I must say. If you are a genius and can make a trivia server for us, please help us out! Any more Flash programmers? We'd love to get some more Gilligan's Island Flash demo's on the main page of our site. If you haven't seen the ones we currently have, you must take a look: http://www.gilligansisle.coml We are currently looking for Gilligan's Island Fan Club promoters from around the WORLD. Your mission? Promote! Tell people about Gilligan's Island and our web site. That's it! We are looking for one person in each state and in each country. You will be contacted if there is a sighting or event close to you. You should have a good understanding of the show. Send me your experience and tell me what books you have. We should have some promoters on the page in June. Will it be you? And now my last pitch. We need some transcribers to help us out on the site. We have a ton of information that still needs to be imported, but they are from our old blue newsletters that we mailed out in the late 1990's. If any of you have those blue "Original Gilligan's Island Fan Club" newsletters and can help us out, please let us know. We've already marked off the sections that we have so we'll be able to tell you what to type out. If you don't have any of those newsletter, we could try to send them to you. Well, that's it. We'll leave you with the quote of the month. It's one of my all time favorites! See you in June!!! "Smooth Sailing" Quote of the month: Gilligan: What are you doing? Skipper: Obviously we're building a fire. Gilligan: For a merit badge? Skipper: No, not for a merit badge, we're trying to signal that boat out there. Gilligan: What Boat? Skipper: That boat out there! Gilligan: I don't see any boat? Skipper: Of course you don't. Gilligan: Do you? Skipper: No! Gilligan: Professor, do you see the boat? Professor: Oh, I can't see it either. Gilligan: But it's out there right? Skipper: Look, Mary Ann saw the boat out there. Gilligan: Can you see Mary Ann? Skipper: Well how can I see Mary Ann when she isn't even here? Gilligan: The same way you can see the boat! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Willy Gilligan President/Webmaster Official Gilligan's Island Fan Club http://www.gilligansisle.com
