Ahoy Maties! Quote of the month: Producer: You call yourselves actors!? Gilligan: I don't call myself an actor. Producer: If I say you're an actor you're an actor! Gilligan: Ok! I'm an actor! Producer: Believe me, you are NO actor! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to the April edition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club. There is hardly anything going on this month, so most of this letter will be from you, our members. Without further adieu, here we go. Gilligan's Island is shown on 'TV Land every day. To get an up to date schedule, go here to see when your favorite episode will be on: http://www.tv-now.com/stars/bobden.html Pete Salisbury, our island correspondent, tells us that the lawsuit filed by Elroy Schwartz against his brother Sherwood Schwartz has been settled to everyone's satisfaction. This opens the door for an unnamed studio to step in and make a bid to produce the long awaited GI motion Picture. Nothing official and don't hold your breath. Sherwood and his wife Mildred celebrated 60 years of marriage recently in December. Apparently on an episode of "All My Children" the dream sequence was Gilligan-related. Greenly was hallucinating (because she was drugged and shipwrecked on a deserted island) that she was Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island (6 other cast members completed the ensemble). Thanks Joe, Stuart and WH for watching the Soaps! Robert Powell tells us that he was listening to a Northern California radio station when he heard a mention of the Castaways. It was an advertisement for the Mervyn's Department Store 3 Day Sale. The commercial mentioned that the number 3 was "not so lucky for a certain group of Castaways." But, the commercial went on to say that Mervyn's shoppers would like the number 3 because of the big sale event. There have been a few more Gilligan restaurants sightings this month. One is in Sarasota Florida on the Siesta Key. It's called the "Gilligan Pub". They have food, darts pool, etc... Another one is in North Rockland (Rockland County), New York. It is a Seafood place called the "Gilligan's Island Bar." Kristyn Graham tells us that on a recent trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina she ran into a restaurant on the beach named Gilligan's Island as well as a funland golf place of the same name. The miniature Golf place is in Garden City which is in the nearby town. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, and typical of a seaside restaurant with all the tie-ins to the show. Both the restaurant and Golf are totally done in the GI theme. The funland golf has waterfalls, a lagoon, bamboo huts, palm trees, and caves...like a miniature Gilligan's Island. [Editor] We are going to put this review on our site this month. In the movie "Jumanji" Robin Williams is in the shower singing the GI theme. In Canada there is a new channel called Deja View! They are showing Gilligan Island daily. We've got a new comic sent by our own Mary Ann. Here it is: http://www.gilligansisle.com/comics.html Frank and Ernest Member Mary writes, "I have a suggestion. Just a thought and of course no one has to agree with it... Would the Members of Gilligan's Island Fan Club be willing to exchange e-mails with others?"
