Ahoy Maties! Quote of the month: Skipper: Gilligan, why don't you stop that. You don't know anything about space. Gilligan: I know one thing about it. You take up more of it than I do. Welcome to the December edition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club. It's almost Christmas time, and we have found a couple of Gilligan collectibles for you or your 'Gilligan' friends. We are very sad to hear that another "Beatle" has died. Episode #48 "Don't Bug the Mosquitoes" was a tribute to the Beatles. During the pilot's filming in 1963, Capital records released the Beatles first recording "I Want To Hold Your Hand." By the time the pilot aired on September 26, 1964 Beatlemania was born and their song "Can't Buy Me Love" was the number one song of the year. And in 1964 they first appeared on television as special guests on the Ed Sullivan Show. The Beatles and Gilligan's Island grew up together. Mr. Howell even impersonated Ed Sullivan when he introduced "The Honeybees." We will all miss George Harrison. There's a new book out called "Gilligan Unbound." Gilligan's Island, Paul A. Cantor argues, is based on the premise that a representative group of Americans could literally be dumped in the middle of nowhere and still prevail under the worst of circumstances. Here she is, our dear...sweet...Mary Ann. http://www.aeolia.net/legs/hof/dwells.htm A couple of Months ago I mentioned that there was going to be a Halloween party in Ohio and here is what a member of the fan club told us. "Just wanted to drop you a line and tell you that the "Halloween in the Barn " party was really fun. My husband and I went and really enjoyed talking to dawn well. She is a beautiful person!!!! It was also fun because I won first prize as ginger and my husband won the prize for the Skipper. Of course, I shouldn't brag because not many people dressed as the castaways. So the competition was limited. There was a very good Mrs. Howell. She had an outfit that was covered in feathers. Remember the episode where the Howell's were collecting feathers and the pot of glue exploded and everyone was covered in feathers? She won the prize for Mrs. Howell. Her husband was Mr. Howell and he looked good also...complete with "teddy." Ann and Steve Morris That's it for this year! Off to decorate the palm trees and huts. The Howell's will be hosting a great Christmas party this year I'm told!!! Willy Gilligan President/Webmaster Official Gilligan's Island Fan Club http://www.gilligansisle.com
