Ahoy Maties! Welcome to our June edition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club. We've got some great stuff for you this month. So without further ado, let's set sail! The BIG news is that a BRAND NEW television movie is coming out called "SURVIVING GILLIGAN'S ISLAND, THE INCREDIBLE TRUE STORY OF THE LONGEST THREE HOUR TOUR IN HISTORY." The producer is none other than Dawn Wells (Mary Ann) herself! It is being filmed in Los Angeles as we speak. If this isn't cool enough, you can be in this historical movie too!!!! Yes.....you! WOW! Ever watch Gilligan's Island reruns and wonder when are they ever going to get off that island? You can be part of TV history when the castaways finally return home! On film day (Monday, June 11, 2001) the castaways come home again in a spectacular "recreation" of the movie "SURVIVING GILLIGAN'S ISLAND, THE INCREDIBLE TRUE STORY OF THE LONGEST THREE HOUR TOUR IN HISTORY." Actually the crew and passengers of the S.S. Minnow were brought home in style in 1977 in the TV movie RETURN FROM GILLIGAN'S ISLAND. If you were not lucky enough to be part of that historic event, you have been given a second chance! You can be one of the jubilant well wishers as the Coast Guard (who found them adrift) tows in the raft with the Survivors and their hut that they lived in on the island. We will be on the Coast Guard dock cheering them in. As the surviving members of the crew are a bit older, for this scene they have look a like actors playing the rolls of Gilligan, the Skipper too, the Millionaire and his Wife, the Movie Star, the Professor and Mary Ann. All rescued from Gilligan's Isle. Dawn Wells (Mary Ann) will be there on June 11th to be in another scene, so you will get to meet her. The other surviving cast may or may not be there. They will probably be filming other scenes of this movie on location elsewhere. Dress 70's style. Aloha Shirts and Jeans are perfect. Shorts are ok if they are 70's style. They did not have shorts that came down to the knees or below back then. NO LOGOS NOT ONE SINGLE LOGO PLEASE. Just in case you didn't notice ....no logos period. The Production Company would love to have you make up your own signs "Welcoming The Castaways Back...." which always look better than the prop department can put out. The Production Company will e-mail you suggestions after you sign up at: http://www.beinamovie.com. CHECK THIS OUT!!!!!! Prizes for the best "welcome back castaways" Spectators (that's you) will be eligible that day for prizes including actual props from the show signed by Bob Denver (Gilligan), Russell Johnson (the Professor), and Dawn Wells (Mary Ann). It will not be a long day and it sure will be fun. The address will be somewhere on or near the Coast Guard Station in San Pedro, Los Angeles County, Calif. You'll be told exactly where at http://www.beinamovie.com. Remember: Go to http://www.beinamovie.com THIS FRIDAY to sign up to be in this movie for FREE! Pete Salisbury gave us a list of filming locations for this movie in Los Angeles. They are as follows: 6-1-01 3100 Wilshire Blvd 1201 W 5th street 6-5-01 25933 Sand Canyon Road 6-7-01 450 N Rossmore Ave 6-8-01 711 N La Brea Ave Time wise it's 6am to 6pm at these locations. Landscape Films Inc. These dates, times and locations, to the best of our knowledge, are true unless they are changed at the last moment. If anybody goes to these, please take pictures and tell us what went on. Hopefully we will see this on our televisions in a couple of months!!! Was that some great news or what? Here's some more news for you, not nearly as exciting as the above mentioned, but here goes. Remember "Tongo the Apeman" and the "Surfer"? His real name is Denny Miller and he was also very well known for the classic 1958 movie, "Tarzan The Apeman." Not only was he a star in Gilligan's Island, but he also appeared in "The Rifleman," "The Fugitive," "Hawaii Five-0", "I Dream of Jeannie," "Gunsmoke,", "The Brady Bunch," "Emergency," "Six Million Dollar Man," Charlie's Angel's," "Rockford Files, "M*A*S*H" and a ton of others. He is a real down to earth guy, and he just started his own web site at: http://www.denny-miller.com. His site is very easy to get around, and a must see for any Gilligan's Island fan. You can even write to him! By The Way..... you can watch the Tongo episode on Saturday, June 23 at 6:00am on TBS. Check your local guide. Our Skipper is missing in action! Not sure what happened, but we are now looking for a new Skipper for our site. If there are any Skipper experts out here that want to be a part of our crew, please drop me a note. We are looking for a real Gilligan's Island buff, a real know it all! When applying, please include the depth of expertise, the video's you own and the books. Sell me why you want to be the Skipper. What would the Skipper responsibilities be? Just to answer e-mail when ever somebody writes. Did anybody see Dawn Wells in a small guest appearance part on NBC's "Three Sisters." She played a young grandmother at a Playboy bunnies reunion on Mother's Day. It was a very short scene. I'd say that's enough good news for one month. With the Musical coming in August and the TV Movie coming soon after, there's more than enough things for me to do around here. As soon as we find out ANY pertinent information we will let you know. You may get another e-mail from us this month if we get any urgent updates to the movie and appearances. See you at San Pedro!
