Ahoy There Matey! Welcome to the September edition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club newsletter. We have a lot of fun additions to the web site, so let's set sail! Planning a Gilligan's Island bash? If you are, then you must check out our party page for helpful hints on making the perfect castaway party. Follow these ideas and they'll talk about your fabulous party for years! http://www.gilligansisle.com/party.html I saw it! I was watching an episode of "Lost In Space" and noticed that the spider looked awfully familiar. It was our own Black Morning Spider! It some how got off the island and wound up in space! I don't know what rescue ship picked it up, but the spider sure didn't tell it was being rescued! It was probably still mad at us for the pigeon incident. http://www.gilligansisle.com/spider.html A bunch of Gilligan songs have been added for your listening pleasure. There is a Titanic song, a few drunken men singing the theme and another funny one called "There's Something Wrong With Gilligan's Island." If that's not enough, Captain Tom has created a Flash demo called "Elian's Island." This cartoon was my favorite, and Captain Tom has done a lot of work on this one. Use a friend's computer if you can't get Flash 4 to work. This is a must see! Seems as if there is a feud amongst the Schwartz brothers these days. Apparently Sherwood Schwartz (Creator of Gilligan's Island) owes his brother back pay from the trillion years the show ran in syndication. Thanks to BradyBfan for sending the article. To learn more about the story, please go here: http://www.gilligansisle.com/court.html Well "Survivor" is over and we'll now have to think about doing something else on Wednesday nights. (Can you believe Rich won?) Anyway, our Gilligan's Island Vs. Survivor page is still up and can be viewed here: http://www.gilligansisle.com/survive.html One of the 100 greatest episodes of all time according to TV Guide and Nick At Nite was episode #52 (dated October 3, 1966) "The Producer." Hollywood deal-maker Harold Hecuba (Phil Silvers) is looking for talent in "out-of-the-way places" when his plane crashes on our favorite tropical isle. To impress the impresario, the castaways mount a musical version of "Hamlet" with Gilligan (Bob Denver) in the title roll. It ain't Shakespeare, but it does get the producer's attention. He quickly names it "Harold Hecuba's Hamlet" and swipes all the singing parts for himself. At the end of this inventive episode, Hecuba steals away -- and steals the idea -- leaving a sadder but wiser Gilligan to pronounce the moral: "Well, that's show biz." Looks as if our site can be viewed from AOL just fine, it's Web TV that can't handle the RealAudio and some Java. A special main page has been made just for Web TV users. It's not updated as often, but at least it should get you where you want to go. If any of you have WebTV, Netscape or IE, can you please tell us what you can't see on Web TV that you can with your normal browser? Here's the Web TV page: http://www.gilligansisle.com/main2.html Getting lost on the web site? I know I am. I can hardly keep track where I put anything anymore. Use our search engine located at the top left corner on our main page. There are hundreds of pages on the site, and this will search for ANY WORD. Some pages are hidden, and you won't be able to locate them unless you do use the searcher. If you still can't find what you're looking for, ask us. We'll steer you in the right direction. http://www.gilligansisle.com/search.html Cudo's go out to William for fixing a major bug in the Gilligan Island computer game we have on the site. Computer game you say? Yes! Download it here and have a blast! It's FREE! http://www.gilligansisle.com/games.html Ever heard of a show called "The Baileys Of Balboa?" It was a show that aired during the time Gilligan's Island was running. We would love to get a video of this, so if anybody has it, please e-mail us. Here's more info about the show: http://www.gilligansisle.com/baileys.html ------------------------------------------------------------- And now an e-mail from our fan club member Brian G. I was in Blaine Minnesota (near Minneapolis) for a soccer tournament last weekend. We went out to lunch at an Italian restaurant called Ciatti's. I had just ordered my meal, and was looking at the specials when I saw it. The Gilligan's Island drink. I quickly copied down the description. Here it is: Ciatti's Italian Restaurant Drink Special Join Captain Morgan on a three hour tour with Midori, Amaretto, Creme de Banana, Malibu and Pineapple Juice. You're Bound to get Shipwrecked! (Webmaster: Maybe I'll try this. It might help me kill some time while I'm here on the island.) Chat Chat and Chat! It's been a while since we set up the Chat room, so we'll all meet this SATURDAY night at the time specified on the page below: http://www.gilligansisle.com/chat.html Tired of complaining about not receiving the last third of your Columbia House video's? I know I am. Let's bombard them with more e-mails letting them know how disappointed we are that they STILL haven't released the last 10 Gilligan's Island video's from the Columbia House collection! Even if you don't own the video's, please help us with this cause. Let's use this e-mail: customer_service@columbiahouse.com Remember Pete Salisbury? You wouldn't unless you were with us in the old days of the "Original Gilligan's Island Fan Club." He was our Island Corespondent in charge of gathering info and conducting interviews with the stars. He's gone on to bigger and better things and now publishes a free newsletter called "The Skipper's Log." Just send him some stamps and he'll make sure that you get his latest interviews and goodies. What do you have to lose? Try it...... it just costs a couple of stamps. http://www.gilligansisle.com/skippers-log/ I guess that's it for now. Not a lot of sightings, but a lot of info for the average Gilligan fan. The Professor made a black and white television from the spare parts of the lunar capsule. We will watch "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" tonight. Well, the Howell's refuse to watch the program because they still think that a million dollars is chicken feed. "Smooth Sailing."
