It's great! http://www.nick-at-nite.com/tvretro/shows_nan/gi/gilligan_index.html If you watched the very first episode of the marathon, then you saw something that was never seen before. Check this out, you'll flip!!! http://www.gilligansisle.com/nicknew.html Are you familiar with the latest craze to hit the television? The show I'm referring to is called "Survivor." 16 people were dropped off on an island and they have to try to survive for 10 weeks. This is the hottest show on television, and Gilligan's Island is always compared to it. The sole survivor will win 1 million dollars. Nick at Nite did a Gilligan survey and guess who won? Ultimate survivor on Nick at Nite was: Professor 41% Gilligan 25% Mary Ann 16% Ginger 7% Skipper 6% Thurston 3% Lovey 2% The Courier Post newspaper (Southern New Jersey), by Nick Bozza Gilligan Wouldn't Survive "The courage of the fearless crew wouldn't have helped the residents of Gilligan's Island if they'd been stuck with CBS' newest crop of castaways," Bob Denver says. Since the debut of the network's Survivor, Denver says he's been repeatedly asked how the show compares to the fictional situations faced by the passengers of the shipwrecked SS Minnow. 'We didn't have rats to eat and we had no poisonous snakes,' Denver said.' We pretty much had a vegetarian diet and some fish.' The 16 contestants on Survivor were left to fend for themselves on an island in the South China Sea. Each week one is voted out, and the last person wins $1 million. Viewers of cable's Nick-at-Nite are being asked to choose which Gilligan's Island character could survive Survivor. 'Mary Ann WAS ahead. She could do everything right, and she could cook and take care of herself,' said Denver who played the feckless first mate Gilligan. 'I was in second place.....I don't know how.'" This Article brought to you by Mary Ann WHAT WOULD GILLIGAN DO?: Out there in TV land, the massive audience for the new hit show "Survivor" includes at least two members of the cast of that earlier show about survivors on a deserted island -- "Gilligan's Island." Bob Denver and Dawn Wells have their own opinions about who would have been kicked off the island they shared from 1964-67 on CBS -- and still share on countless reruns around the world. Wells tells People magazine: "Ginger would have been the first to go. Then the Millionaire -- and next his wife, because she was the more cunning of the two." Wells figures Gilligan would have been next, followed by Mary Ann -- leaving the Skipper and the Professor to battle for supremacy. Denver, by the way, says you couldn't get him on the "Survivor" island "even for a million dollars." He tells People, "I don't eat rats." The people on "Survivor" did, on the first episode, and the buzz from that helped the second week's installment beat ABC's ratings monster -- "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" -- in the Nielsen ratings. "Survivor is in, and so is Gilligan" Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, A tale of a ratings test, That started back when Millionaire Tore a hole in CBS. That network's mighty gamblin' man A Skipper brave and sure Threw 16 strangers on a raft For a three-month-long tour. A three-month-long tour. The ratings started getting rough, Some other shows were tossed If launched against the heart of sweeps, Survivor would be lost. Survivor would be lost. The show hit ground on the shore of this Deserted summer time, With Voyager In reruns too, No Millionaire, Or Whose Line That only leaves This lame ripoff Of Reege meets Gilligan's Isle. OK, enough "Survivor." On to other things. Thanks to the help of Nick Winder, we now have a Gilligan's Planet and a New Adventures of Gilligan's Island section. http://www.gilligansisle.com/planet.html http://www.gilligansisle.com/adventures.html We are in need of the theme songs to these cartoons. If anybody has one or both of them, please e-mail me so we can work out a deal. Alan Hale Jr. use to own and operate a popular restaurant called "Alan Hale's Lobster Barrel" on La Cienaga's "Restaurant Row," in Los Angeles. He would often greet guests dressed as "The Skipper." If anybody has more info about exactly where this is, or was, street address, etc... please let me know. Maybe we can all take a field trip together! I live in NJ and Six Flags Great Adventure is opening up a new waterpark this year. I turned on the NJ News on Friday (June 2) and there is a reporter with Gilligan, the Professor, and Maryanne reporting from the new waterpark's grand opening. It wasn't very publicized, I wonder why? Anyway, during the interview, Gilligan was telling the viewers to watch the marathon this weekend and the reporter asked the Professor the usual question: "If you could make a radio out of coconuts how come you couldn't fix the boat?" (Russell must be sick of this question) He answered: "Why do that when you got Maryanne on the island?" William You may recall a couple of months ago I mentioned to you about a T.V. commercial that I saw Alan Hale in. I thought it was a boat dealership but turns out it was a car dealership. I was surfing through eBay and found this (see link) picture of Alan Hale. The seller describes that he met Alan while he was in town promoting a car dealership. I'm forwarding this info to you incase you wanted to still do more research on T.V. commercials the cast were in. John (Click URL below to see Alan and John) http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=343565729 By Jackie Friedlander: To arms, to arms! Let's all turn out for our little buddy (and his six friends, of course). TV Guide published a "Jeer" against Gilligan's Island on July 1, and the idea that it would still be seen in the year 3000, long after the loathsome "Survivor" show had been forgotten. So now we have to (forgive the expression) flood the magazine with our support for those seven stranded castaways. The real survivor must be Gilligan! If you need to locate something, try our search engine on the upper left corner of our page. This searches only our site, and it searches for every word. If you can't find something, please let me know. We are currently experimenting on changing the look to our main page. At the bottom of our main page, in the center, you'll see a small dot. Click that and you'll see what we're trying to do. There is still no word about the Gilligan's Island Movie. You folks have wrote in and this is who you would pick for a cast. Gilligan Jim Carrey, Martin Short, Rick Moranis, Steve Burns Skipper Brian Dennehy, John Candy Thurston Leslie Nielson, Donald Trump, Hugh Heffner Mrs. Howell Betty White, Goldie Hawn, Rue McClanahan Mary Ann Demi Moore, Sandra Bullock, Pam Dawber, Julia Louis Dreyfus Ginger Michelle Pfeiffer, Geena Davis, Loni Anderson, Jennifer Aniston Professor Robert Hayes, Richard Dryfuss, Rick Moranis Just a short fact: Gilligan's Island has never been off the air and still holds the record for the longest running syndicated show in history! We are currently looking for a person to help out or make a cool Flash intro for our main page. If anybody can do this, please contact me. Whew! That's all for now. Gotta go remove some more coconuts from these very tall coconut trees. Hopefully I won't fall and break my nose.....again. See you soon, I hope.
