Ahoy There Maties!

Welcome to the first 1999 newsletter of the year! I remember a show a while
back called "Space 1999" and it doesn't seem as if we are even close to 
traveling the space as they did! Oh well. We hope that everybody had a great 
Christmas and New Year!

We finally did it and we now have a search engine for our site! It won't 
search for every word on each page, but it will direct you to most of the 
key words used for our site. If you notice a keyword that isn't working on 
the search, but is on the site somewhere, please let us know. Give it a try

Bob Denver (Gilligan) will be making an appearance at the Miami Convention 
Center on February 13, 1999. He'll have three autograph sessions at 11:00a.m.
3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

As I watched the episode "Birds Gotta Fly, Fish Gotta Talk" I thought of a 
goof. At the end when the cast thought they had seen the Skipper in the 
Santa suit they should have freaked out and wondered where he got the suit 
from. Surely he couldn't have made it on the island. Everybody just watched 
him and smiled as if it were no big deal.

Not sure if anybody watches Barney or not, but every once in a while they'll 
show a couple of kids singing some sort of sailor song and you can tell that 
they are dressed up as Gilligan and the Skipper. Just wondered if any of you 
have ever noticed that.

Mitchell Young tells us that there is a Gilligan's Disco at the Outrigger 
Kauai Beach Hotel. He hasn't been there yet, but he has called for 
information (808) 245-1955. Below is what Mitchell has found. (Doesn't sound 
too Gilligany, does it?)

Thursdays from 7:30 pm: Country line dancing and Latino  
Fridays 9 pm to 1 am: 70's and 80's dance music 
Saturdays 9 pm to closing: Top 40  
$5 cover charge on Friday and Saturday

Want some autographed jean by Bob Denver (Gilligan)? Apparently he is signing 
the same type of jeans that were used on the show. These aren't from the show,

Bob Denver appears in a TV Movie called "High School U.S.A." It's about a 
midwestern high-school senior that tries to oust a snob as the class's most 
popular preppie. Show times are: Sun Jan 31 at 8:00pm on The Family Channel.

Another fan would like to share their last e-mail with Bob Denver:
John Nichols asks:  In the first season of "GI", why didn't they put the 
Professor and Mary Ann at the end of the song?

Bob replies:  I was told that Dawn and Russell signed contracts that put them
at the end of the show's opening credits.  After the first year everyone 
wanted to know why this was. I mean, it sounded a little silly to list each 
character individually, then have "and the rest", when 'the rest' were only 
two people. Dawn and Russ used to send notes to each other signed "and the 
rest". The network finally agreed to list them individually at the start of 
the second year. Even the network had to agree it looked better and made 
more sense.
